When the BBC decided to launch their Technologies Department into the private sector, IVC Media was commissioned to develop a new, state of the art Audio Visual System at their new headquarters.

Reception Hub Area

The system comprises of a flush fitted 42" high-resolution Plasma Display screen, complete with a frosted glass cover, to create a stunning image with no reflections from the surrounding lighting. A pair of Active PMC AML1 transmission line reference monitors were built into the wall, chosen for their aesthetic as well as incredible sonic performance.

The system displays digital and terrestrial television Channels via a Philips Pronto Remote control system.

The Boardroom

The challenge was to create a comfortable, professional environment for up to 12 people in a very small space and to provide an Audio Visual System with serious impact.

Elegant oak boardroom furniture was specially designed and built to discretely accommodate the complete Audio Visual System.

A flush fitting digital DLP rear projector, complete with 80" black bead screen, was intalled to provide maximum impact without encroaching into the room.

Either side of the screen, a magnificent pair of PMC IB1 Transmission Line Monitors sit on custom built stands, offering a wonderful clarity and powerful sound.

Concealed within the boardroom table are 6 compartments offering plug in facilities for up to 12 computers, as well as mains distribution and in-built microphones.

The system can display images and sound from numerous off-air digital television, DVD, VCR, 12 Computer inputs and full Video Conferencing facilities. The entire system is controlled from a bespoke control system, offering RF remote handset control, as well as control via an 18" touchscreen.

The control system was designed with simplicity of operation in mind, and uses a menu system to scroll on screen through the available sources. It will detect when a Computer source has been plugged into the table and offer it as an available source, will detect when a DVD or VCR tape is inserted and offer control of the player. The system also has the TV tuner built in and will detect using the teletext available channels and offer them within the source menu.
