The University of London is unlike many other universities. It consists of 19 self governing Colleges and 10 other smaller specialist research Institutes. In addition the University now offers a range of academic and commercial services. Many of these are available to use not only by members of the University community but by the public in general.
With rooms to fit any occasion, the venue can cater for a small meeting for ten people, a large conference for 450 to an elegant gala event.
The Art Deco building itself was constructed between 1932 and 1937 as the first phase of a large scheme designed for the University by Charles Holden. It consists of 19 floors and is 64 metres high, making it the second tallest building in London (after St Paul's Cathedral) when it was completed.
The building's use by the Ministry of Information during the Second World War inspired George Orwell's description of the Ministry of Truth in his novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.
Today, Senate House is the administrative centre of the University of London. The main building contains the administrative offices of the University of London, including the offices of the Chancellor of the University, as well as the entire collection of the Senate House Library.
As well as London University's Senate House, IVC has recently been involved in a number of other major installations at educational establishments in the UK, the latest being Exeter University Business School which is currently in progress.
