Sunderland University TV Studios
We were approached by Sony to design and commission all aspects of the installation, including 4 radio studios, 4 edit booths, 2 TV studios, 15 lecture room systems and auditorium.

The new facility comprises of two independent TV production studios and associated control rooms that are capable of working either independently or as a combined system.
IVC Media played a pivotal roll in assisting the Sunderland University Media and Arts Centre plan their relocation from the old university site to their new building located at the St Peter's Campus.

TV Studio 2
Studio 2 utilises most of the university's analogue equipment from their original television studios comprising of 3 Sony DXC-D30 camera chains with remote CCU's mounted on a combination of Vinten Pro-ped gas pedestals and dollies, Sony BVS 3200CP vision mixer, 1 x DSR1500 DV cam digital tape decks, 1 x 85 DV cam digital tape deck, network routing switcher, 16-channel O2R audio console, Sony MD, Sony CD player, 2 channels of Sony radio microphones, Trilogy talkback system, automated studio lighting console, Vistek glue equipment and a range of 14" and 9" digital picture monitors.
Component analogue is converted to serial digital for use in the new serial digital Studio 1 production system.
Both Studio floors have been treated with Epoxy self leveling paint to enable smooth camera tracking with black velvet and television white Drapes mounted on sliding tracks thus enabling coverage of all studio walls. Studio 2 has been fitted with a flush mounted 'U' shaped infinity Cyclorama that has been painted Chroma Green for use with either studio Chroma Keyers.
The Trilogy talkback system has stations in all control rooms and is interfaced to all studio cameras, Floor Manager's induction loop and full duplex digital Floor Manager's Radio talkback systems. There is also a floating desk top Trilogy talkback station that can be plugged into the system from the Green Room, any control room or the 7.1 surround sound cinema. The talkback system has been programmed so that the studios can be easily combined or split into two independent systems.
The programme output of Studio 1 feeds the router for the 7.1 surround sound cinema to allow for viewing of programme material in the Cinema by the students.
Due to the limited space in the control rooms, IVC Media designed and built specialised mobile production consoles that can be easily moved to enable easy access during both installation and for the future servicing.
